Jimmy Fallon Jokes His Daughters Are 'Spoiled' at Christmas But Teaches Them About Giving Back

It may not quite be Halloween yet, but Jimmy Fallon and his family are already getting into the Christmas spirit!

The Tonight Show host opens up to PEOPLE in an exclusive conversation surrounding his new children's book 5 More Sleeps 'til Christmas about his family's holiday plans, revealing that first and foremost, he and wife Nancy Juvonen teach their daughters Frances Cole, 5½, and Winnie Rose, 7, the importance of giving back.

"At first, they were a little upset. They're like, 'No, we want to keep everything.' I'm like, 'You can't. … Trust me, if you give, you receive — you get back more than you can know.' So that's what we kind of taught them. And so every [Christmas and] birthday, we do that," says Fallon, 46. "They pick some toys and we give them to a center by our house that takes in toys."

Despite the lesson in generosity, the father of two admits his girls are "still spoiled" anyway. "They have too much," he tells PEOPLE. "They definitely have more than I had when I was a kid."

As for how their holiday plans have been affected this year given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, "Usually we'd have the whole family over and I think this year's different," says Fallon. "We'll be talking to everybody and FaceTiming and whatever we can do. I don't think my dad understands Zoom yet, so just FaceTime was a big leap for us. But yeah, it'll be different and tougher, but we got to do what we can to get through this."

Winnie and Franny will also make sure they get in contact with Santa Claus (who usually "writes a letter back," their dad says), and the family will "leave out cookies and milk." too. Adds Fallon, "I think we leave out a carrot for the reindeer, which the reindeer doesn't finish, so far. They leave a couple of chunks still. Rudolph does not finish all of the carrot. Very interesting."

Jimmy Fallon Announces His Third Children's Book, This Is Baby — See the Adorable Cover!

Illustrated by Rich Deas, Fallon's newest addition to his children's book repertoire — which debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times Best Sellers list — was inspired by his "favorite time of the year," as well as a conversation he had with Winnie while walking her home from school when she was around 5 years old.

"She said, 'How many more sleeps 'til we go to Grandma's?' And I was like, 'How many more sleeps? That's so cute.' I'm like, 'Oh my God, I've never heard that before,' " he tells PEOPLE.

"I go, 'That's a good idea. Maybe that's something like, how many more sleeps 'til Christmas?' So I said, '5 More Sleeps 'til Christmas, and you can describe those five days leading up to the biggest day of the year when you're a kid,' " recalls the Saturday Night Live alum.

Fallon adds that the book is also based on "all the traditions you do and the decorating and hot cocoa and the candy canes. So I wanted to do something with that. Then we found an illustrator that just set the right tone. And I'm like, 'This kid with a big head, just dreaming, looking out the window.' "

Fallon teamed up with FAO Schwarz in celebration of his new book, and for a great cause. For every copy sold, the company will donate a toy to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

In fact, FAO Schwarz's flagship store within New York City's Rockefeller Plaza has set up an entire "wonderland" section dedicated to the late-night host's new story.

Also behind the whimsical window display are his "top toy picks for the holiday season," including their dance-on piano mat (made famous by Tom Hanks in 1988's Big), cars, trains, plush toy soldiers, dolls, LED easels and more.

"[Even] if you don't buy anything, the experience of walking around that many toys and that much magic is so cool," Fallon says. "It just makes you feel like a kid again."

5 More Sleeps 'til Christmas is available for purchase now at the FAO Schwarz store and FAO.com.

Carrie Underwood's Son, 5½, Did a 'Great Job' Recording 'Little Drummer Boy' on New Album

Carrie Underwood couldn't be more proud of her son's singing skills.

The Grammy-winning artist appeared on Wednesday's episode of PEOPLE (the TV show!) where she discussed her experience recording the popular tune "Little Drummer Boy" with her son Isaiah, 5½, on her Christmas album My Gift, out now.

"When I first heard it back I was laughing and crying at the same time because it was just this beautiful, pure moment from him," Underwood said of listening to her son's rendition of the song.

"He did such a great job," she continued. "He remembered the lyrics and he sang it with his whole heart."

The mom of two, who shares sons Isaiah and Jacob Bryan, 20 months, with husband Mike Fisher, said her son was so excited in the studio he was "throwing his hands up into the air."

Asked if her eldest son understands that his mom is a famous singer, she said she can "see little lightbulbs coming on."

"It's mainly when other people talk about it to him," she explained. "If we'll be there with a little friend and the friend's mom is like, 'Oooh now this is Carrie Underwood.' "

Last month, the country singer, 37, made a virtual appearance on the Today show where she shared similar sentiments about Isaiah's role on her first-ever Christmas album.

"Whenever I think of that song, I picture his face and his personality. That is so him," she told hosts Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin. "He would be the kid that would make you something and bring it to you because that's what he had to give you. And that's the whole sentiment behind 'Little Drummer Boy' is bringing what he has to Jesus, which is why I wanted to name the album My Gift."

Underwood said that she helped her son tap into "all his little 5-year-old emotions" to record the song and that she was "the proudest mom in the world" when watching him sing.

"He was just so expressive. When I heard the song back with his sweet little voice on it, I was laughing and crying and just [had] so many emotions," she said. "I'm so proud of him."

During a recent interview with Radio.com's Katie & Company, Underwood said Isaiah also has his sights set on another holiday: Halloween.

The country singer revealed that her older son wants to dress up as Oogie Boogie, the bug-infested, dice-throwing villain from Disney and Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.

But Underwood is "having some trouble finding that costume, only because it's for adults," she said.

"Lord help us if I have to make 'Ooogie Boogie,' " she quipped. "So, we're gonna see. Maybe I'll get a potato-sack-type of situation — a burlap sack. Maybe I can make one out of that, I'm not sure. Wish me luck!"

Chrissy Teigen Thanks Hillary Clinton for Sharing Her Essay on Pregnancy Loss: 'I'm So Honored'

Chrissy Teigen returned to social media on Tuesday after a month-long break following her tragic pregnancy loss — and one day later is thanking Hillary Clinton for sharing her essay on the experience.

Clinton, 73, shared Teigen's essay on Twitter Wednesday, calling the cookbook author brave for speaking out about such a heartbreaking — and often taboo — topic.

Teigen, 34, quickly reacted, saying she is "honored" that the former Secretary of State shared her words.

"oh my god Hillary Clinton just tweeted my essay now I have to delete the stupid videos I just posted oh my god please dont look at them Hillary Clinton," Teigen wrote on Twitter.

In another tweet that included Clinton's, Teigen added, "I’m so honored @hillaryclinton. You have dedicated your life to fighting for women’s and children’s health, so to have you share my piece about my experience means the absolute world to me. Wow. Wow."

"Thank you, @chrissyteigen, for your bravery and grace in starting a hard conversation to help other families heal alongside yours," Clinton's original tweet read.

On Tuesday, Teigen announced that she had returned to social media after taking a break for about a month.

"I've missed posting my cookbook journey," the Cravings author said, sharing a video on her Instagram Story of some veggies sizzling in the oven. "I [am] so incredibly proud — it will absolutely be my best ever."

"I got to step away from the world and do something I love, but truly missed being able to bring you along for the journey," Teigen continued. "I love and missed you guys."

"I'm back!" she added.

The Instagram Story video came the same day that Teigen shared a heartfelt essay about the loss of her and husband John Legend's son Jack at 20 weeks pregnant. She first shared the news of the tragedy on Instagram on September 30.

In her essay, Teigen opened up about the pain of losing Jack, and also the gratitude she has for all who have shared their similar stories with her.

"People say an experience like this creates a hole in your heart," Teigen wrote. "A hole was certainly made, but it was filled with the love of something I loved so much. It doesn’t feel empty, this space. It feels full."

To conclude the piece, Teigen wrote, "I wrote this because I knew for me I needed to say something before I could move on from this and return back to life, so I truly thank you for allowing me to do so."

"Jack will always be loved, explained to our kids as existing in the wind and trees and the butterflies they see. Thank you so much to every single person who has had us in their thoughts or gone as far as to send us your love and stories. We are so incredibly lucky."

Caterina Scorsone Recalls Moments After Delivering Daughter, Who Has Down Syndrome: 'I Was Scared'

Caterina Scorsone's initial fear in raising a child with Down syndrome was quickly replaced with hope and positivity.

The 39-year-old Grey's Anatomy actress welcomed her daughter Pippa in November 2016, and for PEOPLE's cover story this week, she opens up about being afraid, admitting she didn't know much about what her daughter's future would hold.

"When my daughter Pippa was born, I was scared. I didn't know anything about trisomy 21, the name for the occurrence of a third copy of the 21st chromosome, better known as Down syndrome," Scorsone says. "… I didn't know anything. All I knew about Down syndrome was that people were afraid of it, so I figured I should be too."

Scorsone — who is also mom to daughters Eliza, 8, and Lucky, 10 months — recalls feeling overwhelmed in the delivery room soon after giving birth to Pippa, and how her mindset shifted away from fear when she cradled her newborn.

"I looked at the tiny baby who would grow into my funny, stubborn, beautiful little Pippa, and I saw how limited my life had been until that moment. How small and contracted. In that moment, the triplicate 21st chromosome that gave her those beautiful, dancing crescent-moon eyes became a tiny skeleton key."

Scorsone says "there was nothing wrong with my baby," adding that while having a child with Down syndrome is admittedly "scary," there is fear in considering the many "uncertainties and realities of life" with any child.

"I don't know what kinds of challenges will come up for her down the road. I don't know if she'll find a job that is the right fit for her interests and talents," she says of Pippa's future. "I don't know if she'll find a partner who will get her sense of humor and will celebrate her life every day with small and large gestures of love."

"But," adds Scorsone, "I don't know that about my other daughters either. Pippa is perfect exactly as she is. So are you, and so am I."

"When Pippa was born, all I knew about Down syndrome was that people were afraid of it, so I figured I should be too. But it turns out people are afraid of a lot of things that don't scare me anymore. And the greatest of these is love."

Back in April 2019, Scorsone, who shares her children with ex Rob Giles, opened up to PEOPLE about parenting, saying that "one thing that changes when you have kids is that nothing is in your control anymore."

She added at the time, "You have to roll with whatever is happening and there are people that are now in your life very intimately and in your space who have distinctly different personalities from you."

Chrissy Teigen Says She's 'Back' on Social Media After Pregnancy Loss

Chrissy Teigen has returned to social media nearly four weeks after suffering a pregnancy loss.

Teigen, 34, shared some cooking videos on her Instagram Stories Tuesday — the same day she published an essay opening up about the heartbreaking experience — writing in one video that she's "back."

"I've missed posting my cookbook journey," the Cravings author said, sharing a video of some veggies sizzling in the oven. "I [am] so incredibly proud — it will absolutely be my best ever."

"I got to step away from the world and do something I love, but truly missed being able to bring you along for the journey," Teigen continued. "I love and missed you guys."

"I'm back!" she added.

The mother of two also shared some videos of herself and daughter Luna Simone, 4, making some creative pancakes together. Luna made a lion-shaped treat, while Teigen made one that spelled her oldest's name and another in the shape of an ice cream cone.

Earlier on Tuesday, Teigen shared a heartfelt essay about the loss of her and husband John Legend's son Jack at 20 weeks pregnant.

"I’m not sure I’ll ever forget the experience," wrote Teigen, who had been diagnosed with partial placenta abruption, in the essay.

"My mom, John and I each held him and said our own private goodbyes, mom sobbing through Thai prayer," she said of the moment Jack was delivered. "I asked the nurses to show me his hands and feet and I kissed them over and over and over again. I have no idea when I stopped. It could have been 10 minutes or an hour."

Teigen said that though a "hole was certainly made" after the loss of Jack, it has been filled with "the love of something I loved so much."

"It doesn’t feel empty, this space," she wrote. "It feels full."

Teigen concluded her essay by writing, "I wrote this because I knew for me I needed to say something before I could move on from this and return back to life, so I truly thank you for allowing me to do so. Jack will always be loved, explained to our kids as existing in the wind and trees and the butterflies they see. Thank you so much to every single person who has had us in their thoughts or gone as far as to send us your love and stories. We are so incredibly lucky."

After first sharing the news of the pregnancy loss on Instagram on September 30, Teigen shared on October 16, "We are quiet but we are okay. Love you all so much."

The update came after Legend, 41, dedicated his performance of "Never Break" at the Billboard Music Awards to his wife.

Sharing a video of the performance, he later wrote on Twitter, "This is for Chrissy. I love and cherish you and our family so much. We've experienced the highest highs and lowest lows together. Watching you carry our children has been so moving and humbling"

https://www.instagram.com/p/CGayTUUpdzG

"I'm in awe of the strength you've shown through the most challenging moments," he continued. "What an awesome gift it is to be able to bring life into this world. We've experienced the miracle, the power and joy of this gift, and now we've deeply felt its inherent fragility."

Sharing her essay on Instagram Tuesday, Teigen thanked her husband in the caption for "doing everything he could to take care of me."

"Thank you John for being my best friend and love of my life," wrote Teigen, who also shares son Miles Theodore, 2, with Legend.

"A lot of people think of the woman in times like this but I will never forget that john also suffered through these past months, while doing everything he could to take care of me. I am surrounded, in a human therapy blanket of love. I am grateful and healing and feel so incredibly lucky to witness such love."

Ashley Graham Reveals She's Tried Breast Milk 'More Than Once': 'Tastes Good'

Ashley Graham is getting real about breastfeeding.

The supermodel, 32, shared some candid tidbits from her life as a mom during Monday's broadcast of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, telling guest host Stephen "tWitch" Boss and his wife Allison Holker that she's actually tried breast milk before.

The revelation came when the three of them played a parenting edition of "Never Have I Ever." When Boss remarked that "never have I ever tried breast milk more than once," Graham — who welcomed her first child, 9-month-old son Isaac Menelik Giovanni, with husband Justin Ervin this January — was the only one who raised a paddle reading: "Mama has."

"What?" Holker, 32, remarked. "You've tried breast milk?"

"Yes, I put a little bit," Graham admitted as she seemingly mimed a bottle, "you know, just to try a little bit. It tastes good."

"No, I've never done that," Holker said.

"Have you ever squirted it across the room?" Graham then joked. "No? Is it just me?"

During the segment, Graham also shared that she has fallen asleep while breastfeeding.

"Yes, definitely," she said. "A million times."

Meanwhile, Holker — who shares daughters Zaia, 11 months, and Weslie Renae, 12, and son Maddox Laurel, 4, with Boss — said that it has "never happened" for her.

Earlier this month, Graham shared a snapshot of herself breastfeeding her son as the pair hung out together outdoors. In the the shot, Isaac can be seen standing and reaching up toward his mama as he nursed.

"Standing feedings are a thing now 🥺my big boy!" the Pretty Big Deal podcast host wrote in the caption. "He's not walking, but crawling and pulling himself up everywhere!"

In response to a fan who asked Graham if her son is "tak(ing) a bottle," she said, "He does take the bottle, but not from me!" with a crying-laughing emoji.

Graham previously said that while she has her own approach to parenting, she's trying not to impose it on other women who are finding their way through their journey to motherhood.

"I've got a couple of family members who are pregnant, and my instinct is to say, 'Oh, do this, do that,' " she shared in the August 2020 issue of Elle. "But I stop myself every time, because I remember how I felt when everybody told me what to do and sent me their unsolicited advice and their lists."

"If there's a question to be asked, ask it. But other than that, keep your trap shut and just let that mother figure it out. The mommy-shaming on social media is out of control," she added.

"He's very happy with her," a source told PEOPLE of Cuevas and Rainey. Although he initially kept her identity a secret, Cuevas finally tagged Rainey in a September post.

"Happy 4 Years my love! Here's to many more wonderful adventures with you — the greatest one of all coming next month❤️," Elliott captioned a trio of snaps featuring the couple at the beach.

That doesn’t mean that they don’t share some hilarious stories with us.

According to Lively, Inez is a little “baby viking” who enjoys red meat. She explained that, for Inez’s first birthday, “[I] made a Cookie Monster cake … and [Inez] just looked at it and reached for a steak … She was hand-fisting two steaks. Her sleeves were dripping in blood from steak.”

Lively shared with PEOPLE in 2017 that she doesn’t necessarily have a parenting style.

“I think it’s hard to slap labels on any parents because it’s just so tricky. It’s like every moment you’re figuring out what the heck you’re doing. You think, ‘Ooh, should I be more strict, or should I be more I don’t know, emotional?’ Or whatever it is. If anybody knows how to be a parent, I feel like grandparents really know how to be parents. But parents, you just figure it out as you go. So, I wouldn’t put a label on it,” the actress said.
